Survival Knives Empty Survival Knives

I've recently become interested in knives but I'm not sure what to get. I have plenty of little folding knives that my grandfather used to own, but I'm looking for more of a hunting knife: something with a fixed blade of at least 5". A buck is the first option that comes to mind. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Depends on what you plan to use the knife for.

Like I said, I need a knife for hunting-utility purposes. Something analogous to a bowie knife but something smaller and more economical.

I was just wondering if you meant for skinning and cleaning or going innawoods and using it as your primary means of crafting shelter and tools for hunting with, in either case really a 5" or 4" buck should treat you fine. I have a 6" bowie that I use and its too big for those smaller creatures without a lot of finesse.

I guess skinning and cleaning would be my first use for it, and carving and crafting my second. I was going to get a hatchet for larger crafting and shelter-making and I would use a rifle for hunting. Thanks for assuring me that Buck was a good choice. Are 119's full-tang? I was reading a /k/ommando survival guide that said to only get a full-tang knife.

A Google search lead me here.

But if you're going to be using it for cleaning and crafting type things then perhaps a 4" knife might suit your purposes better.
