FAT 76 stamp on M1 Carbine stock? Empty FAT 76 stamp on M1 Carbine stock?

Post  NickNameUser Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:11 pm

I was in an antique store the other day, and saw an M1 stock sticking out of a pile of some old shit. I nearly shit my pants, but then I realized the M1 was no longer attached to the stock. It was $35.00, and a little worn. It had a rectangular stamp with FAT 76 and a star on the left side I think. What does that mean?

I think the FAT 74 is a manufacturer's mark for just the stock. IIRC, it's a post WWII Italian made replacement stock.
